At the International Art Laboratory ROJARAKU- international workshop, artists are in residence for 16 days at the Roja Municipality in Latvia, stretching 40 kilometers along the North Kurzeme coast of the Riga Bay. Roja is situated at the estuary of the Roja river and the Baltic Sea. At present, Roja has about 4500 inhabitants. The area is surrounded by a virtually untouched natural environment. The sea, dunes, sandy beach, pine forests and the appealing coastal village serve as a perfect setting for work and recreation.

Spatial Art Laboratory ROJARAKU removes artists geographically and conceptually from their normal studio practice and brings them together with a selected group of international artists working in a diversity of mediums. This workshop contributes to developing international dialogue that explores our cultural and educational differences while appreciating our commonality.

ROJARAKU provides a focused period of time to make work, involving a process which allows artists to take risks and reevaluate their practice. The workshop challenges and changes perceptions by encouraging collaboration and cooperation, generating international dialogue and contacts, and providing unique opportunities for developing artists.
